"One foot on the brake, and one on the gas"

As the type of person who lives with my foot planted firmly on the gas, both literally and figuratively, I rarely take time to reflect upon the past.  I realized how true that is while sifting through some of my older posts this morning and noticing that I skipped right over the 5th anniversary of this blog, which was actually in February.  My original intent for this post was to introduce a new project started by my friend Tony Holt, who is directly responsible for inspiring the writer in me to start this blog, so as the title implies this is a moment to pause and look back while gearing up for the next 5 years (and hopefully many more) and turning my readers on to a great new site.

In doing so, I'd like to thank everyone who has visited and followed my blog, and especially those who have shared it with others.  When I first launched this blog, I saw it as nothing more than a writing exercise for my own amusement after seeing Tony's blog and enjoying his concert memories.  It wasn't long before I noticed people commenting on my posts, and surprisingly most were from people I didn't know who were linked here through a keyword search.  Knowing I have an audience, regardless of size, has inspired me to become more socially aware and share my thoughts on a much wider range of topics than just music and personal events or experiences which is how I originally started.  As I mentioned in the blog header, I am looking for interaction and feedback from all who pass through so if you have a topic you'd like to see brought to light email me (link on my Google+ Profile), and leave comments on posts you've read.  I look forward to increasing the volume and I hope more and more of you come along with me and give me fresh new ideas to keep the train rolling full steam ahead.

Pressing on, it's time to share with you a new project involving Tony and his friend Jeremy, which I've been thoroughly impressed with, both in concept and in execution.  I introduce you to ConcertDaze.com, a site dedicated to the love of music (and good beer) featuring a request hotline, a forum section and a series of podcasts which can be streamed or downloaded in mp3 format, free of cost.  The podcasts are the real driving force of what this project was started for and they are really well done, as Tony has some experience behind the microphone.  The style is very underground, non-commercial, and easily relatable much like the style of Tony's blog (link provided, along with ConcertDaze, in the Friends and Favorites sidebar) and mine.  The site has been mentioned in the Fresno Bee and they're off and running strong with 10 podcasts and a nice following so far.  Facebook users can join ConcertDaze using your existing login, or you can create a new account to access the forum section.  It's hard for me to decide which part of ConcertDaze I like more between the forum and podcasts, as both provide a welcome place for music fans to interact with each other and to interact with Tony and Jeremy.  These guys love their followers, so feel free to give them praise or give them hell, but only if you can take it as well as you give it.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and please, as with my blog, spread the word!

Thanks so much Jason for the glowing mention. We're having a blast doing the podcast but the only hard part is getting it into people's ears!
